STORY & ART

Hand felting is my hobby. I have been felting for over 10 years and I am sure that I will be felting for many years to come. Felting is an ancient craft with a long and fascinating history and has now become a contemporary art form that has many practical and modern applications. The type of hand felting that I do is called Nuno Felting which is felting onto material using the “wet felting” process of soap water and agitation. The materials I use could be either silk, cotton, organza or chiffon and on to these bases I hand felt tufts of new wool dyed in a myriad of colours and I overlay them with various other fibres to create wearable pieces.
“Up Styling” pieces has recently become a big part of my felting journey. I love to find some very stylish coat or jacket or shawl that I can “Re-Vamp” by adding some beautiful pieces of wool, silks or other fibres. I have been successful with some of my “Re Vamped” pieces and they have been awarded prizes -1st prize 2017 Ritchies Boonah Arts Festival Calico on Catwalk, 2nd Prize 2019 Arts Festival Fashion Awards and 2019 Highly Commended Arts Awards Open Mixed Media.
Each garment that I produce is a unique and individual piece and the design will not be repeated. I hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I have enjoyed making them.
